Counseling

Counseling is an important component of your recovery process, whether that be one-on-one therapy or group therapy. When patients combine Medication Assisted Treatment with counseling, they are less likely to relapse. Upon becoming a patient at R&R Centers, we will provide you with a list of trusted, licensed therapists across the San Francisco Bay Area and various other locations around Northern California.

The three prominent types of therapy/counseling used alongside Addiction Treatment include the following:

  1. Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy: Individuals learn to identify thoughts or feelings that are triggering and have previously led them to use drugs. This form of therapy helps a person develop new coping strategies and involves new ways to deal with cravings.

  2. Contingency Management: This approach rewards individuals for not using drugs by helping them develop the skills needed to deal with the thing or feeling that triggers their drug use.

  3. The Matrix Model: This is an abstinence-based therapy that combines several aspects of different treatment approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy, contingency management, and 12-step programs, among others. The Matrix Model involves support, family education, and individual counseling.

  • "Within the past year, I have lost four classmates to a drug overdose. I am in treatment because I want to live a life free of addiction."

  • "Everything is, honestly, going so much better than I thought it would. I'm shocked and amazed at how good I feel. I wish I had done this sooner!"

  • "I injured my back and over the years I became addicted to painkillers. As I get older and the risks of hospitalization increases, I don't want to have any complications that can cost me my life."
